Mahatma Gandhi and
Hair Stylist
When Mahatma Gandhi went to South Africa, he was treated
badly because of his dark skin color. He was not allowed to travel in first
class coach in trains. Even a barber in South Africa refused to cut his hair.
So, Gandhi cut his hair himself and went to the court. Many people in the court
made fun of his uneven hair cut. But Gandhi never felt uncomfortable. In fact
he became expert in hair cutting
During his stay in the Tolstoy farm house he
never employed barber because he himself started cutting hair to his student.
When he was arrested and kept in prison in South Africa he took it as a passion
and gave a nice hair cut to the prisoners.
Those days when there was little technology for public communication,
barber shop was the main place to share events and news. Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings on Non-violence, Independence,
Hinduism, Vegetarianism and Kadhi where the topics discussed and became popular
among the masses.
