Gandhiji felt that the medium of education must be on mother tongue only. "The foreign medium has caused brains fag, put an undue strain upon the nerves of our children, made them crammers and imitators, unfitted them for original work and thought, and disabled them for filtering their learning to their family or the masses."
He felt that the foreign medium has stooped the development of the local languages. Gandhiji says that the school must be an extension of home and it should strike a balance between the impressions which a child get at home and at school. This will help to avoid drop outs in primary and secondary education.
Finally, Gandhiji writes, "To be a voluntary victim of this system of education is as good as the betrayal of our duty towards our mother".
